Sahasrara
Samsara Samsara Samsara
And the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round. The wheels on the ship round and round, round and round, all through the town…
Almost wrote the title as Samsara. That is the whole entire revelation we will unpack in one sentence, at the end though.
There is a lot going on within this piece so let’s unpack it, shall we?
What differences do you notice within the sphere this time?
While you chew over that, chew this too lol, this entire piece wanted softness, not in the sense of the Svadhisthana that I created with subtle and gentleness, but more of an ethereal, angelic vibration. This is quite literally what this entire chakra is about.
Okay, so the background. The original flower symbol is much more complex, resembling more of a thousand petals, other than the paltry 7 you have here. But that 7 has its own symbolic significance. 7th chakra 7 petals. Coincidence? No. Consciously accidental? Absolutely.
This was the first and therefore the only piece in which I utilize the color of the original grey background that I use to begin all my works.
I use grey to give me insight into true color correctness. When you are working on a white background you’ll think the colors are far too bright for what you have in mind but if you switch it to grey well you’ll often be surprised by how dull the colors might be.
Side note.. the whole entire theme of this series was about achieving a balance between light and dark, background and foreground if you haven’t been able to notice that yet.
Grey symbolizes the balance between light and dark. Funny how it would be used in the final piece. Almost as if to resemble…
The particular arrangement of the petals was rather difficult to get into any arrangement similar to what I was working on within the other pieces. That was only a gentle symbolic sign of this particular energy wanting something different, its own moment of uniqueness. No stranger to moving in flow I allowed it to show me, after some trial and error I found a solid arrangement with the largest of the flowers. The ones with the dark purple
After that I needed to fill in the space, really loving this silverish gray color I found I knew right away I did not want to add any other colors, so I took the original flower and duplicated it tenfold. Each time having to resize and reconfigure the flower in correlation with its allotted location.
Take a look at it for it a moment, do you see what I see?
Depth, a new layer of depth I did not achieve in my other works in this series. Well, not to this extent. You see it’s those smaller flowers that really add to the spatial value. It gives me this immersive feel that I can stick my hand init and grab one, or even swim in an infinite space of Sahasrara flowers and wheels.
Imagine if I added another layer of even smaller ones, other further adding to the depth, this newly found field of perception. Honestly, why didn’t I? I have this keen moment that when I am done I am done. I came to a stopping moment, birthed the words “I am done,” and had to act it out. It’s only now that as I write and look at it for reference do see this new vision. A personal revelation. Btw, in that last paragraph did you catch that reference? it’s one word.
The dark purple nurple in the wheels is simply nice, yes there is greater cohesion but it’s simply enjoyable.
However, looking more specifically at the symbol itself, you may notice one distinct difference, it’s subtle to the untrained eye but it’s there.
Different brush. Different brush strokes.
In all of the works previously, I used the same organic hemp brush. I used it one the first work and was like “I like this, I want to use this for all the others.” then preceded to do so, till I got here. This is again this works subtle gestures at its own uniqueness.
The hemp brush gives this effect of meshing with the background. giving holes and semi-permeable fluidity. Whereas the ink brush that I used here gives solidity.
That solidity is a bit humorous to me because solidity is the direct opposite of ethereal but that small moment of uniqueness is in direct correlation with this Sahasrara.
It’s currently bittersweet, there has been an entire love affair going on with the works of art. I swear I am not crying. This journey has been absolute gold in many ways, I truly hope these artworks, coupled with my thoughts and insights behind them are able to give you immense value.
The wheel, with the wheel, if you haven’t noticed by now, I played more with the linework of these waves, which created two miniature mounds on both the right and left bottom. In truth, there isn’t much to unpack. but this technique of “waves” has been, is, and will be a staple in many of the works that you will see in my career.
That light beam. agh, the only of its kind. I knew this one was going to be straight before I knew which sphere was even going to get it! How absolutely divine! Oh, sweet revelations. The light beam symbolizes the light energy literally coming down from the heavenly waters above. That bright whiteness being its pureness its raw abstract form.
Where the inspiration comes from to be planted into the mind’s eye, to be birthed, birthed again from the throat, given love and passion from the core self at the heart chakra. All the way down the will where it uses that initial aggression to bring about the creative passion, and pleasures of the sacral all the way into the foundation to grow deep everlasting roots.
The symbol in front of the sphere is the only one of its kind as well which is cool, I thought about going back to the others but honestly. I was done. I like the loose flow, definitely something I will be playing with in the future.
The Samsara. The moment you have all been waiting for. Samsara means wheel. Find the reference earlier? The wheel is cyclic. It is symbolic in a few ways, here the representation of eternal ever-flowing ever-constant energy, that is the chakras. But also the ouroboros. The serpent eating its tail.
Symbolic of beginning and ending at the same origin point. Birth and death.
So here we are we have traveled up the spine revealing revelation upon revelation uncovering hidden revelation upon hidden revelation. To know I must travel back down to finalize its completion here in these final few paragraphs.
Even though we are at the topmost chakra, we are at the bottom looking up at the tree that’s been built.
This cycle can be further broken down into the system of the Qabalah, without going too deep. the Samsara is a Muladhara for the higher planes. Tsk, tsk there we go mixing systems in the end, I don’t suppose this is the beginning of a new cycle asking to be played, is it? what do you think? Especially to break some of the overlappings in the one system of this series.
Thank you for enjoying this journey with me.
I’d like to say on a personal note, I really liked that I didn’t go back to rework every piece, it gave the entire series a personal feel. we are more able to tap into the journey by tuning into the differences, the details as well as the improvements along the way. If I went back in to rework, I truly don’t think this blog series would have been as good. More mechanical in nature.
lolol at this moment we are just over 7000 words in this blog, these little intricacies I actually live for. God, God is great. Btw, did you notice how closely similar the words Samsara and Sahasrara are? How peculiar…
What particular symbol would you like to see?
